                                                    GANPATI BAPPA MORYA!!

After two years finally I was back to my birthplace, the city of dreams-Mumbai! at the right time..
We landed Mumbai when its in its peak of so called JOSH and JALLOSH, the season of GANESHCHATURTHI !

'The entire city was drowned in excitement of welcoming their favorite GANPATI BAPPA home.
preparations scattered all around to get ganesha idols home either for 2,5 or 10 days!
the immense happiness not only on peoples faces but also in their hearts was truly inexplicable!

19th September 2012,the day of Ganeshchaturthi witnessed yummiest and ethnic food ever!
Ukdiche modak, Boondi che ladu, Puri Bhaji, Sabudana khichdi, Varan Bhath, Khatkhata, Muga gathi, Koshimbir, Rushichi bhaji, Kheer ruled the platter called NAIVAIDYA,served on the holy banana leaf!
Entire city echoed the lines ''GANPATI BAPPA MORYA , MANGALMURTI MORYA''

The state of MAHARASHTRA who worships lord Ganesha as their so called ARADHYA DEVATA of the state din't leave a stone unturned to worship their beloved Ganpati Bappa!
Right from food to aarti, backdrops to security all was set to welcome the lord..

My friends and myself went around the city to see the great famous idols in the city..
starting with the most renowed,
His Highness, The LALBAUGCHA RAJA  beleive it or not, due to his blessings,we seeked his mukh darshan in just 20 mins!without any influence! that was a great achievement to boast about!
Then we entered GANESH GALLI aka MUMBAICHA RAJA!

We travelled to my favorite place for which my heart dies always-GIRGAON!
We saw GRANT ROAD MARKETCHA RAJA, TOPIWALA LANE, TRIBHUVAN ROAD, PANDIT BUILDING PAWWALA BUILDING GANPATI'S..

Then we entered the eternal place for ganpati-KHETWADI!
It was a fabulous experience entering every lane and visiting our beloved bappa in different avatars! the well known BARAVI GALLICHA RAJA,won my heart as always!
The dice ganpati in TULSHI BUILDING was the proof of their creativity as they always come up with something new!
AKRAVI GALLI,DAHAVI GALLI,KHAMBATA LANE and many more were just superb!
Then we headed to the famous GIRGAONCHA RAJA! thereby ending the detour at GIRGAON CHOWPATTY!
A million Thanks to LOKMANYA TILAK,who pioneered this festival to get people together and spread awareness ideas! Definitely todays Ganpati festival in Maharashtra reflects his ideas of oneness!
Though few flaws have developed in terms of environment and misbehaviour of this materialistic world, due to their high tech technology too,But the spirit of Mumbai is must watch!

Ofcourse when its me,food follows so here's what I ate on the way
maska pav and mava cake at merwans -grant road,
hot kachori outside 1st Bhatwadi lane,
pav bhaji at sukh sagar-chowpatty
and the mouth watering kulfi at new kulfi centre-chowpatty!

Being born in girgaon i missed a lot more places to visit to hog on u guys could go ahead for it..
PRAKASH DUGDHALAY near fadke wadi(batata puri, sabudana wada, piyush and many more maharashtrian veg food stuff)
B.TAMBE (SPECIAL KAJUCHI USSAL)
PANSHIKAR,CHAFEKAR-Lamington road
DOSA AND KHICHA PAPAD AT BANAMA LANE CORNER...
and the list goes on and on and on......

AH...SPECIALLY AND ALSO NOSTALGICALLY I WOULD THANK MUMBAI POLICE AND MUMBAI TRAFFIC POLICE FOR THEIR EVERLASTING SECURITY THAT THEY HAVE BEEN PROVIDING THROUGHOUT THE CITY ESPECIALLY IN THESE 10 DAYS!
LEAVING THEIR OWN FAMILY AND HOUSE GANPATIS HOME,THEY ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE BEEN STANDING AND GUIDING THE HUGE MUMBAI POPULATION IN RAINS,SUN AND ALSO UNDER THE MOON LIGHT!WE ARE REALLY GRATEFUL TO YOU!

I HOPE GANPATI BAPPA HAS A LOVELY TIME IN MAHARASHTRA AND FULFILLS EVERYONES WISHES!

 GANPATI BAPPA
     MORYA!!!!

Wordsworth once said;
‘POETRY IS A SPONTANEOUS FLOW OF THOUGHTS!’’

But the following poetry flowed through my frontal lobe ,to make the most of the time when I had absolutely nothing to write in my 3rd sessional microbiology paper!!

I have written this poetry when I was gazing outside the misty window and I spotted a

                                CHRISTMAS TREE

Across the window amidst the chapel doors,
There I see a deserted Christmas tree,
Standing alone, no one to care
Bored of loneliness, it’s just too rare!

Waiting eagerly that someone would wait aback to see me;
Where’s the smile on everyone’s face?
Where's that glistening glee?

Whole year they let me stand alone,
Only at the end they lit me by the throne,
Where’s everyone gone, aren’t they here?
Where’s the Santa Claus and his reindeer?

I remember that week!
The only; when I’ am remembered
All the children beside me cheer,
Their tiny little fingers tickling my arms,
I loved to kiss their chubby cheeks; so calm!

But all that’s dressings lasts just for a couple of days!
Those lovely times of gatherings and gay!
Now I am kept undressed in this thundering rain all alone,
Where I can’t find anyone around me,
NO ONE TO CHEER NO ONE TO MOURN!

      WORLD BLOOD DONOR'S DAY!

               JUNE,14,2012.

Well,I truly admit that I had no idea about the presence of this red letter day until Dr.Kirana Pailoor, my pathology professor and Dr.Reena Alva, my anatomy professor, professed about it!
In the honour of this day, a poster competition was held as a mean of awareness program with the topic;
"EVERY DONOR IS A HERO".
Since I couldn't participate due to some academic occlusions,
I just thought of scribbling a few words.....

                    "EVERY DONOR IS A HERO"

When I heard the topic, the first thought that popped through my Hippocampus was, the famous dialogue by the National Hero, Netaji Subhaschandra bose,
"tum mujhe khoon do mein tumhe azadi dunga"
sounds a bit filmy though but a stream of thoughts evoked through my mind in the hunt of such heroes.

That time Netaji must have asked people to give their blood to get freedom, but today the INDEPENDANT INDIANS (not only Indians though) need blood to cherish the freedom of life!

We need blood donors to donate their blood to save a dyeing grandpa,to get back the life of an almost dead youth who has met an accident,to get the family supporter of the crying kids back home or to give life to a mother who has just delivered another life!

Well, we all applaud the work of great people's greatest acheivements in various fields.
But it's my pleasure today to appreciate each and every blood donor in this world through this article;who have unknowingly brought back the million dollar smile on an indigent's face!

So don't you want to be the hero of someone's life?  A life saver!
BLOOD OWNERS SHOULD BE BLOOD DONORS TOO!

What you basically need is,

Age - 18 to 55 yrs
Hb  -   not less than 12.5 g/dl
Wt -   not less than 46 kg.

So what are you waiting for?
Go ahead and release some of the 5 lit blood flowing through the same course of your veins and get back someones life!
you need not be a doctor for that!

AFTER ALL,
BLOOD IS MEANT FOR CIRCULATION,  RIGHT?

MEMORABLE MEMORIES WITH A MEMORABLE PERSON!

“Travel is more than the seeing of sights;
it is a change that goes on,
deep and permanent,  in the ideas of living.”

Once again a few of my beloved batch-mates and me, came up with an adventure to fill a page of experience in our life!
This time our destination was 60 kms away from mangalore, the hedonistic land of 'Manipal' where lives our Biomechanics professor,PRABU SIR!Of whom I had mentioned in my previous article.

We were trying to reach this place as a whole batch since a long time..but with lots of YESSes and NOes buzzing our ears only 10 out of 27 finally reached Manipal!

Our tired body which never leaves our bed even at 8 am,reflexively heeded the alarm at 6 am and we got set to go.We traveled by an express bus from State Bank area to Manipal.
It was total 1hr,45mins of excitement!
On reaching Manipal, out of the blue,we saw Prabu sir expecting us standing at a corner of a road.
We were so pleased to see him after so long and in  a better health!*touch wood*
We arrived at his apartment, and were like a storm around the silent meadow..

Till date,we had seen sir teaching and dancing but today he even cooked for us!
The scrumptious menu of omelet-bread,tea,oat porridge(which I liked the most!),biscuits, rice with chicken kolhapuri and dal fry was not just enough to fill our stomachs but also our hearts!

“One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.”And I guess this was only what we did the whole day!
Sir's same lonely apartment gushed out of laughter  as we entered and brought back the million dollar smile on his face.

“All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware.”Certainly today our destination was to stick a broad smile on everyone's face. And we were fortunate enough to have done that!
LOVE YOU GUYS!
AND WE UNDOUBTEDLY MISSED THE ABSENTEES!

AFTER ALL,
"A JOURNEY IS BEST MEASURED IN FRIENDS THAN IN MILES!"

                          THE SWEETEST SURPRISE!

''Our brightest blazes of gladness are commonly kindled by unexpected sparks!!''

Most people allover the world celebrate April fool's day today but the Mumbaikars of batch 2010 celebrated a surprise day!

Our Biomechanics professor PRABU SIR astound us by meeting us at 1.00 am at Udupi station.
All sleeping deep just got up on the spec on hearing his name,
we just went out  near the train door and were left unspoken to see Prabu sir standing out on the station to meet us!
It was really one of the best surprise ever!!

Never expected any teacher to love his students so much as to drive 10 miles at midnight just to bid his students for 5 mins on their way back home!

IT WAS SUCH AN EMOTIVE GESTURE!
                                    INDEED A SIMPLY SWEET SURPRISE!

WE REALLY REALLY LOVE YOU PRABU SIR!
                                                         "*" CHEERS"*"

                                                      BPT BATCH 2010

''EVERY ENDING IS A NEW BEGINNING''

OCT 1st,2010-The most preoccupied day day of my life...the reason was to leave the city where I have been born and bread-Mumbai and enter a new world;"FMMC'' in Mangalore...
Aww... it was indeed a dilemma for me!

The first day of my Campus Life I met 26 more people with same mindset!
It looked to me like a reality show like Big Boss...where 13 hailed from god's own country-Kerala,10 from the city of dreams-Mumbai,1 from the hedonist capital-Goa,1 fom Gujarat,1 all the way from New York and only 1 manglorean representative from here itself!
We all together and formed the confluence of
                                     ''BPT Batch 2010''

People say too many people spoil the broth! But here every one had their own taste!
When it comes to instrumentals;the three music maestros-Priyanka,Stephanie and Ashmita pour out the music from their skilled hand making the aura so pleasant!
Not forgetting the vocals by Orein,Ziona,Quinette,
Joylin,Akhila and Anjali who add to the pleasure!
When it comes to sports we have Jenson continously shooting the basketball net,
Allan scorring glorious goals in football;
Nathalia,Nelson and Philon who strike the ground all day for Cricket,Volley Ball and Throwball.

The dynamic Dance is performed by Jennifer ,Janvi,Anareen,Grishma,Sreevarsha and Shone.
The seldomly done momentary mimicry by Anand,Daya,Sruthi and Kuruvilla is jst not worth missing!!
Last but not the least ,the smile of our batch,Athira and a pinch of salt that brings taste to the recipe of batch 2010-Sr.Vincy!
And finally myself,Prachi who generally  is the orator...

BPT BATCH 2010 is indeed a home away from home...
So now,I no longer look behind,
And cry for my family and friend,
                                    Coz now i have BPT'2010,
                                    who constantly make an attempt,
                                    To bring ABILITY IN DISABILITY
In order To create a Legend!!

TODAYS DATE IS INDEED A REMARKABLE DATE...
FOR ALL OF US SINCE IT'S INSTITUITION'S DAY
I WOULD LOVE TO TAKE THE PLEASURE TO SAY
I LOVE YOU ALL!AND YOUR PRESENCE AROUND MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE!!
                                                            MUAH.....

                                                                                                                           LOVE,
                                                                                                                           CIRCUIT!

                     INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!

When it comes to March 8th,
it's indeed a red letter day in my calender
celebrating;
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!

Being woman is indeed a terribly difficult task
since it consists principally of dealing with men!

A Darling daughter, a gorgeous girl, a lovely lady,
a warm- hearted wife, a multitasking mummy and a probably a mordant mother in law....
All this makes a WONDERFUL WOMAN!

Greetings of International women's day to all the young ladies!
(and old 2!;)

Also wishes for the colourful festival of HOLI!
I hope the festival of HOLI splutters vibrant colours onto your life
 and artistically paint your womenhood!

May these colours direct you to the shrewd path, thereby inspiring you to recapture your dreams!

As it's aptly said,
"If you want something said, ask a Man;
But if you want something done, ask a Woman!"

                           GOOD LUCK!

DEDICATED TO ALL THE AMAZING WOMEN IN MY LIFE!

Wednesday, 29 February 2012

                                         FEBRUARY TWENTY NINE!

Din't post anything this month may be because this post wanted to be the exceptional one!

Today's day seems to be a real special one! It certainly has some hidden secret that gets the unknown smile on my face.. after all it's 'FEB 29th' (INTERCALARY)
I find it somewhat like an ornamental feminine day..Ancient western tradition recommends this day for women to propose marriage..It is THE DAY to express your feelings to your love!
I think all women should think over it and go ahead with a positive thought! good luck young ladies!

Leap years have always been scintillating ones to me!
The last leap year day unknowingly served as an additional blessing to study for my 10th grade board exam..
This one started with a horrible class test but made us cheery all day after that!
I enjoyed a bowl of choco chip icecream with my two foodie fanatics...and would admire it at least till the next leap year!

IT WAS SIMPLY A SMILEY DAY:)

Waiting forward for the subsequent FEBRUARY 29th..
Contemplating the most awaited  endeavour of my life on this day!!
And I optimistically hope it takes place on this day!!

Wishing you all an amazing leap year!!

P.S: This post was purposefully written to cherish this day..because my next post on the same date and month would only be possible after 4 years!

                                                MY MUMBAI

This poem is dedicated to the city of dreams and the mighty Mumbaikar who live beyond their dreams..

Early morning there the sun rays fall,
On her back,on the towers tall,
There they begin a new hectic day,
Reaching office jogging all the way!

Where first there were plenty of animals everywhere,
Entering the national park for any human a dare.
But now not a single seem around,
She has lost,
The lions roaring sound!

Crore!s of people leaning on her back,
Happiness or money either they lack,
Where some share their eureka cheers,
While some others shed their agony tears
But she gulp's it all,
She's my Mumbai!

At the time of dormant dusk,
Some NGO'S try their budding busk,
Where the same Mumbaikars in hanging trains
Try to fetch a tired bench;
Reaching home irritated and fully drenched!

Where nanny's are paid to do mothers duty,
And where the mother is involved in her job and beauty,
Where computers and video games play the fathers part,
This is today's lifestyle,
It's today's art!
Yet she tries to withstand it all
She's my Mumbai!

Traffic jam and Queen's necklace bright,
Quenching thirst and women fight,
She's huge hearted and has lots to give,
Where people everyday pick up a new dream
And start to live!
Yes!
She's my lovely lively Mumbai!!

Many eat to live, but most live to eat...
My batchmates and I obviously fall in the second category, therefore passionately following our hungry day dreams we reached the 17th  National youth festival, held at Mangala Stadium, Mangalore. The food court from all the states was exhibited here.

We took a 15 no. bus from Kankanady and reached our food land within half an hour...Its fun to travel in a bus especially with foodie hearts and exploratory brains!
Here are a few imp things that you need to carry when you visit a food exhibition:
1.A bottle of water
2.Empty tiffins, so that you can carry home some taste for your loved ones!
3.A few tissues...
    and there you go....attack!

Remember, food exhibitions are for tasting food and not for hogging! :)
Its generally better to visit such places in a group so that you get a variety to taste..
We stimulated our taste buds starting with
Litti Chokhi and Imarti with Rabdi (Bihar)  followed by
Khasta Puri (Chattisgarh)
Dahi bhalla and Desi Ghee Pakoda (Delhi)
Besan Ladoo (Haryana)
Rajma Chawal and Kadhi Chawal (Himachal Pradesh)
Dal Pakodi and Jalebi (Jharkhand)
Momos (Sikkim)
Arabian Pulpy Grapes juice and water melon juice from Mangalore.

These were some memorable foodstuff that added to my taste treasured tongue!
Yet I regret not having the untasted food and I hope to spot it somewhere else!!
After all
"There's no sincerer love than the love for FOOD!"

उंच वृक्षाच्या गार सावलीत जरासं बसावं;
असं वाटतं बरच काही करावं...

असं वाटतं,
पक्ष्यांच्या थव्याबरोबर लांब उडून जावं,
सख्यांबरोबर उंच डोंगरावर चढावं,
वर-वर जाताच नभाशी भिडावं;
असं वाटतं खूप काही करावं...

असं वाटतं,
अनोळखी रस्त्यावर उगीचच चालावं,
थंडगार पाण्यात डूपकी मारून पोहावं,
मत्स्यांचा गर्दीत हरूनच जावं;
असं वाटतं भरपूर काही करावं...

असं वाटतं,
पतंगीवर बसून ढगांवर पोहचावं,
व ढगांवर बसून ब्रम्हांड पहावं,
हनुमानासारखं आपणही कधी सूर्याला खावं;
