THE SUBMERGED WORLD - I.C.U

Well definitely I have penned down the almost exact experience that I encounter in ICU during my clinical postings!

Definitely the credit goes to our HOD - Narasimman Sir and Cardio teachers - Cherishma ma'am and Shabari ma'am for constantly guiding us to treat better!

So here's a blend of responsibility and humanity brought to you in 'THE SUBMERGED WORLD - I.C.U '

I step out of the elevator,
Turn towards right,
A huge apprehensive crowd I see,
Staring at me with trusting eyes!

I leave my footwear out,
And open the hinge door,
A sudden transition in aura I see
As I gather guts to attentively explore.

Doors and doors I pass through,
The cold A/C trying to calm me down
That ' peek peek ' sound that hits my mind,
That atmosphere makes me critically frown.

There I see all in blue , green and white,
All staff running around
One case sheet I bravely grasp,
Believing that my patient is sound!

Politely I try to converse with him,
Reluctantly he glares at me,
That hopelessness I see in his eyes,
That asks me just to flee!

Yet I try to convince him to cooperate,
He hates to see any  white coat's face,
He turns the other side around,
With rolling tears of disgrace!

There the monitor strikes the bugling alarm,
His ECG waves start dancing on screen,
SpO2 ,HR, RR - all vitals fluctuate,
And here my heart starts hopping ; as on a trampoline!

With tenacity I start my treatment,
But even at 18 degree Celsius I begin to sweat,
A natural empathy arises through my heart,
Yet I can't see my patient getting fret.

I feel too bad to see him,
Bored lying there for days and nights,
Constantly trying to self extubate,
With Charon he regularly fights!

He feels he has lived enough,
The only word that echoes his head is - ' THE END '
He resentfully rejects Goddess Hestia's call,
Yet, I promptly say, " GET WELL SOON MY FRIEND ! "

And as I walk back those doors,
A tour between life and death,
A piece of word drops off my mind
GUYS -

" LIVE FULLEST UNTIL YOUR LAST BREATH !!"

P.S :  CHARON ; Greek mythologyCharon or Kharon (/ˈkɛərɒn/ or /ˈkɛərən/Greek Χάρων) is the ferryman of Hades who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead.

HESTIA :  is a virgin goddess of the heartharchitecture, and the right ordering of domesticity, the family and the state. In Greek mythology she is a daughter of Cronus and Rhea.
